Some days you just need food that gives you a hug from inside! Chocolate spread, does just that, comforting and delicious.
The first time I made nutella, I couldn't believe how easy it was. Pop a few ingredients into a blender and Voila.
-Nuts, Hazelnuts are good, but Almonds work well too. You could do a mix of the two, or any nuts you have too hand. (300g)
This time round I cheated and bought the already chopped roasted hazelnuts. Means you don't have to roast them in the oven first, so you can throw straight into the blender.
- Cocoa Powder 2 tablespoons- more if you like it more chocolatey
- Honey/ Algave syrup/ Maple syrup- 80ml (5 tablespoons)
-Oil (sunflower, olive oil or coconut) (2 tabelspoons)
-Water (2-4 tabelspoons)
If you have bought roasted or grounded nuts then throw straight into the blender, if not then put them on a baking sheet and roast in the over for 8 minutes, until golden. Then chop up into smaller pieces before putting in the blender
Add the honey and oil into the blender with the nuts, if they are not turning in the blender, add more liquid, add some water or honey/algave / maple syrup, little spoonfuls at a time, so it becomes a nice smooth paste,
Add the Cocoa powder taste as you go, adding more if needed.
There you have it, quick and easy chocolate spread. I eat it straight off a spoon, spread it on toast or mix into porridge.
