The World Triathlon Series came to Leeds on 12th June. And just like the Tour de France Grand Depart in 2014 and The Tour of Yorkshire Bike race in 2015 and 2016. The crowds came out in force to welcome athletes to Yorkshire.
Having lived in Leeds since 2011, Leeds and the one and only God Own county Yorkshire feel like my adopted home. So like everyone else I was supper excited when it was announced that the world triathlon series would be coming to the city.
2nd race of the year, 2nd win and hands down the best atmosphere I have ever competed in.
My full race write up, talking about my race tactics of "Have fun, Smash the bike and enjoy the atmosphere" can be read on the Raceskin Website here.
And here are a few pictures from the weekend...
With Phil, racking our bikes in Roundhay park on Saturday afternoon. Space for 5000 competitors, that's one big transition! Great to return the hosting favour for Phi (He hosted me and Eli for IM Bolton) so was lovely having him to stay
As I started in wave 24, I had the opportunity to cheer many friends and club mates on first. Jerry snaps fellow Leeds Bradford Triathlon member Nicky Roughton and myself cheering people on as they run up from the lake to T1. Definitely the best warm up I have ever done!
Giving it some beans.Smash smash smash on the bike and soaking up the atmosphere on the run.
Thanks for the photos Adam and Jerry
Post race, cheering on the Elites with Sarah aka wiggle maestro! You can read more about our work here, and taking the path less travelled post WTS Leeds.
Cheers to an absolutely fabulous weekend in Leeds.
